From the Old Bank to Legends

Every music store has a story. Ours started in a place you probably wouldn't expect, inside the Old Bank Restaurant in Dubbo.

In 2013, Michael & Gloria Picton opened Old Bank Restaurant with a simple idea: create a place where people who love music could come together. A year later the dream expanded to help musicians find great instruments and, most importantly, get genuine advice from people who understood music.

It didn't take long for the little shop inside the Old Bank Restaurant to become part of Dubbo's music scene.

Over the years, we've watched beginners buy their very first guitar, young musicians discover the instrument they would eventually fall in love with, teachers search for the right gear for their students, and experienced players come through the doors looking for that next instrument or piece of equipment.

Honestly, some of our favourite memories aren't about famous names. They're the everyday moments . The kid walking out with their first guitar, the parent who has no idea what their teenager is talking about but wants to support them, the musician who finally finds the one, or the customer who walks in for a set of strings and ends up staying for a chat about music.

That's what we've always loved about running a music shop.

A New Name, Same Passion

As the business grew and changed, so did the name.

Old Bank Music became Legends Music Shop, but the heart of the business stayed the same.

Legends is a continuation of everything we've built over the years — the knowledge, the relationships, the love of instruments and the belief that a good music shop should feel like part of the community.

We're proud to be an independent music store in Dubbo. We're proud of the people who have worked alongside us, the customers who have supported us and the musicians who have trusted us with their gear.

And we're especially proud that many of the people who walked through the doors years ago are still coming back today.

And after all these years, that's what keeps us excited about coming to work.

From the Old Bank to Legends, it's been one hell of a journey.
